We are a local lodge of the Vasa Order of America,
a Fraternal Society originally established for the benefit of Swedish immigrants a century ago,
but now dedicated to preserving and sharing our Scandinavian culture and heritage.
We meet at 2 o'clock at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 808 Red Lion Road, Philadelphia, PA the fourth Sunday of each month, with the exception of July and August.
At our meetings you will find the opportunity to gather with other members of Scandinavian descent and participate in programs that highlight our common heritage, traditions and culture. Some examples of our monthly meetings include the annual Turkey Bingo game, Lucia, Viking and Leif Ericson presentations, crowning of the May King and Queen, annual Memorial Service, membership, birthday and recognition awards and Svenska Flaggans Dag.
To make meetings more fun and interesting we've added craft sessions, "men in the kitchen" lunches, Smorgasbords, picnics, an Aquavit program, and the list goes on and on.
Explore the Departments in the left sidebar to find out more about our calendar of events and our activities. Follow the Links in the right sidebar to explore the structure or purpose of the Vasa Order of America, and view activities of other local lodges. You are eligible for membership if you are at least 14 years of age - (there is no upper limit), and you are of Scandinavian ancestry or birth, (Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, or Swedish) or are the spouse or widow of a Vasa member. If you do not meet the qualifications of membership above, but are interested in Scandinavian culture or heritage, you are most welcome at our open events.
Please contact one of our officers if you have any questions about joining Vasa or attending an upcoming meeting. We'd love to welcome you at one of our meetings!
